This is an electronic guide for use in public attractions,
such as museums, art gallerys, etc. Speech or pieces of music can be stored as
digital MP2 files on a microchip inside the handheld unit. Users can listen to these files
via a mono speaker or in stereo via a pair of headphones.
The
electronic guide (DDS 125) is a portable, battery-powered unit with a keypad for
track selection (track numbers are displayed next to exhibits), a digital display to show
which track is currently selected, buttons for play, pause, stop, and volume regulation, a
built-in mono loudspeaker, and a stereo headphone jack.
DDS125 Charger:
Battery Charger/Programming Unit
This rack recharges the batteries contained
within the portable unit, and provides the necessary connection to allow the transfer of
the guide or music files to the players. The transfer is done using a program on a
separate PC.
Once all
the tracks are converted into digital MP2 files using a program on a PC, a playlist is
created and transferred to the memory of the units stored in the rack via a parallel port
connection.
