This is one of the many diverse applications
of our technology ; in the area of Brake test benches. Our first version was created in
1994, designed for use in car repair,and has full authorization from the ministry of
transport.
The latest version is that shown in the picture.
The
experience of developing technology in this sector has lead us to introduce many
innovative ideas, such as the application of microstepping technology. The steps of the
motor are used to indicate the force going through the brakes, and because of the high
precision present in microstepping, the data can be used to emulate an analogue indicator
via software manipulation. This system is better than the older alternative- a stepless
motor combined with gear reduction; the fewer mechanical parts means that there is less to
go wrong, and there is also a significant cost reduction.
The force measured comes from an analogue load cell , all signals are converted by a
high stability analogue amplifier and an analogue converter, optocoupled to improve
electrical noise immunity . A receiver for an infra red remote control is provided in the
same unit and is used to receive keypad selections made by the user, and to receive
analogue data from the pedal load cell. The pedal load cell is attached below the break
pedal, and is used to measure the pressure applied to the pedal during the test.
Ports for Input and output are available to monitor the status signal of the bench ,
and to activate the motor's light indicators . There is display output for a giant, seven
segment display , RS485 to exchange information with other devices and RS232 for
diagnostics and data set up . It is also combined with a Centronix parallel printer port
and a 0/10V dc analog input for pressure sensors .

-Infrared transmitter with analogue input
This is the infrared transmitter ,
with a keyboard and two infrared LEDs for data exchange with the DDS110 board .
The maximum transmission length is approx 30 metres for keypad commands , and about 15
metres for analogue data .
With a rechargeable battery , the remote transmitter can work for up to 8 hours .
This is
an example of a custom application made on the specific request of our customer , using
our technology and experience .
